If a relative cosigns for a loan and I file bankruptcy, are they liable?

If they did not also file bankruptcy, they will continued to be obligated for the loan they cosigned for even though it has been discharged in your bankruptcy case. Discharge received in bankruptcy is only applicable to the person who has filed for bankruptcy. That's why banks require consigners in most cases.
